How Nice Of You

How nice of You, to set Your rainbow in the sky
And make Your promise shine so high,
And even stoop to dry my eyes ~
How very nice of You!

How nice of You to be my joy on gloomy days
And, when I droop my head, You raise
Enough to offer feeble praise ~
How very nice of You!

How nice of You, when life is old
And a million stories have been told,
To teach us one that can’t grow old ~
How very nice of you!

How nice of You, when day is through,
To show the Moon and stars that do
Their courses, as You told them to ~
How very nice of You!

How nice of You, when days are long,
To give the birds to share their song;
To put that smile on a face that’s long ~
How very nice of you!

How nice of You, when old friends go
And body, weak, is trembling so,
To give us strength so other’s know ~
How very nice of you!

How nice of You to set me free
When this old temple’s done with me,
To take my soul to dwell with Thee ~
How very nice of You!
